Three teachers at Louisiana Tech University’s AE Phillips (AEP) Laboratory School recently received grants to purchase STEM materials for their students to be used in the 2022-23 academic year.

Michelle Blount, Ashley Ellis, and Kristina Kassab submitted a collaborative proposal for funding through LSU’s Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy through the Quality Science and Math Grant Program. The program provides opportunities for teachers to secure funding to purchase materials and equipment for standards-based, effective, innovative, and high-quality STEM-course instruction.

In class, AEP students will have access to robots, tools, and materials at upper elementary and middle school levels.

“We’re excited for our students to enjoy these excellent resources,” Blount said.

“We’re very grateful to be awarded this QSM grant,” said Dr. Jenny Blalock, AEP Director. “We are also thankful for the collaboration between our school and Louisiana Tech’s College of Education. This enhances experiences for our students.”
