Louisiana Tech University’s academic program in Human Development and Family Science within the School of Human Ecology has been recertified by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) to offer students designation as Provisional Certified Family Life Educators (CFLE) upon graduation.

The program offers students course work in 10 recognized family life education content areas, including human growth and development, family dynamics, and parenting education. Upon graduation, Louisiana Tech students will have the knowledge and skills that enhance well-being and strengthen interpersonal relationships within families. They will then gain work experience in family-life education and eventually become fully certified.

The certification of Louisiana Tech’s program allows graduates to move to full certification without taking the CFLE exam, saving them time and resources spent by graduates from uncertified programs.

“The National Council on Family Relations is the oldest professional association focused solely on family research, practice, and education,” said Dr. Amy Yates, Interim Director of the School of Human Ecology. “We are proud to offer our students this opportunity to move quickly into a fulfilling career that benefits children and families wherever they choose to practice.”
