Winter Choir Concert planned Feb. 7 in Howard
More than 40 students who make up The University Choir, Chamber Singers, and Tech Pop Ensemble will present Louisiana Tech’s Winter Choir Concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in Howard Auditorium.
The pop ensemble is led by Professor Jesse Kinne; the choral ensembles are led by Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Interim Director of Choral Activities Demetrius Robinson.
Tech School of Music Instructor Shayla Black is the concert’s collaborative pianist.
The concert is free and open to the public, which can expect a full palette of diverse choral music, spanning from the late 1800s to contemporary pop arrangements.
In addition, this will be the School’s first vocal concert with Robinson, Tech’s new choral director.
“We are thrilled to invite the Ruston and campus communities to our Winter Concert,” Robinson said. “Our theme for this concert is ‘Hope Lingers On.’ As we emerge from the initial terrors of the pandemic, we remain grounded in our belief that music is the medicine for our mind and soul. We hope you can join us.”
The University Concert Choir is a non-audition choir; students simply register for the course. The Chamber Singers make up the University’s flagship choral ensemble.
