I/O Psych graduate kicks off new speaker series Psychology@Work
Louisiana Tech University’s Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences will focus on how Industrial-Organizational Psychology is used in the workplace through their new Psychology@Work speaker series.
Graduates from Tech’s Industrial-Organizational Psychology program will share insights and experiences from their careers as leaders in a variety of organizations.
“The profession has been growing since the 1940s, but people often don’t understand what it is,” said Dr. Frank Igou, associate professor in the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences.
This speaker series will help increase understanding of the role psychology can play in the workplace and how Louisiana Tech graduates use their degrees to increase both productivity and employee engagement in organizations.
Dr. Stephanie Murphy will deliver the first presentation of the series called Following the Numbers: Using Data to Drive Key Talent Decisions.
Murphy is a graduate of Louisiana Tech where she completed both her PhD and MA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. She is currently Dell Technologies’ Head of People Insights & Assessments and leads global projects reaching over 130,000 team members. In 2022 she was named one of OnCon Icon’s top ten data and analytics professionals in the world and Diversity MBA’s Top 100 Under 50 Executive and Emerging Leaders.
“Stephanie is extraordinarily talented and has a strong work ethic,” said Dr. Tilman Sheets, a professor in the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences. “She demonstrates the impact that psychology and people analytics can have in an organization to help them make better decisions.”
The first Psychology@Work seminar will be held at 3:30 p.m. March 13 in the University Hall Auditorium. A reception immediately after the talk will follow, and all are welcome.
