Hurtig one of only 10 on U.S. French academic board
Louisiana Tech’s Dr. Dolliann Margaret Hurtig, professor in the School of Literature and Language in the College of Liberal Arts, has been elected for a three-year term as one of 10 members of the Board of Directors of the American Society of the French Academic Palms of the United States (Association des Membres de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques).
Napoléon Ier founded the Palmes Académiques in 1808 to honor university professors for their outstanding service to education.
There are currently 4,547 chevaliers globally, 1,523 officiers and 280 commandeurs. Hurtig, who holds the rank of chevalier from the Ministry of National Education of Paris, France, will make use of her editorial skills in her service to the Executive Board in the United States.
