Caldorera-Moore appointed as COES associate dean of undergraduate studies
The Louisiana Tech University College of Engineering and Science (COES) announces the appointment of Dr. Mary Caldorera-Moore as the new associate dean of undergraduate studies. Following an extensive search process that involved input from a committee of campus peers, faculty, staff and administrators, Caldorera-Moore, associate professor of biomedical engineering, emerged as the ideal candidate to lead and enhance the undergraduate academic experience.
Caldorera-Moore brings a rich background in both traditional and educational research, alongside a distinguished career in academic leadership. She currently serves as academic director of the industrial engineering and instrumentation and control systems engineering technology (ICET) programs and on the COES Leadership Team. She also holds the Daniel D. and Linda D. Reneau Endowed Professorship in Biomedical Engineering. In these capacities, she has played a pivotal role in managing and supporting first and second year engineering programs and students, demonstrating a deep commitment to student success and academic excellence.
“Dr. Caldorera-Moore’s dedication to undergraduate education, her experience, and her innovative approach to student success make her the perfect choice for this role,” said COES Dean Collin Wick. “Her leadership will help shape the future of our undergraduate programs, ensuring students receive the highest quality education and support as they pursue their academic and professional goals.”
A 2005 alumna of biomedical engineering at Louisiana Tech, Caldorera-Moore relates to the experience and rigor of study being a COES student brings. Beyond her time at Tech, she went on to complete a master’s degree (2007) and a doctorate (2010) in biomedical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
“I understand that maintaining high-quality academic programs requires attention to detail and ongoing dialogue between faculty, students, and external stakeholders,” said Caldorera-Moore. “As associate dean, I will continue this work, ensuring that our undergraduate programs remain competitive, relevant, and aligned with the expectations of our accrediting bodies and industry.”
As associate dean of undergraduate studies, Caldorera-Moore will enhance experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry partnerships to elevate the undergraduate experience at Louisiana Tech. She brings extensive expertise in accreditation, curriculum development, and program assessment, having played a key role in ABET accreditation and academic planning. As program chair of biomedical engineering, she revitalized the department, strengthened alumni and advisory board engagement, and improved student retention and post-graduation success.
Caldorera-Moore will begin her new role summer 2025.
