The Board of Directors of Louisiana Tech University’s Engineering and Science Foundation has presented its 2013 Outstanding Faculty and Friends Awards, honoring faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends associated with the College of Engineering and Science who have shown outstanding commitment to the College or have acted as ambassadors for the university.

Dr. Erez Allouche

This year, the Foundation chose to recognize faculty members Dr. Erez Allouche and Dr. Brad Cicciarelli.

Allouche is the director of Louisiana Tech’s Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) and an associate professor of civil engineering.  Over the past two decades, the TTC has become a leading research facility for the development of technologies influencing almost every aspect of trenchless construction methods and has served as a point of reference for representatives of the trenchless industry.  Allouche is credited with much of the TTC’s success over the past several years and has been recognized nationally and internationally for his innovative green technologies.

Cicciarelli is a lecturer in chemical and mechanical engineering, and teaches a variety of courses within these two programs.  Students consider his courses to be very challenging, but have commented that they learn the material well as a result of his high expectations.  Cicciarelli received the 2013 F. Jay Taylor Undergraduate Teaching Award and has also been voted Outstanding Faculty by the students of the College of Engineering and Science, several years in a row.

Interim Dean Hisham Hegab said the awardees are representative of the best of the College of Engineering and Science, at all levels.

“As interim dean of the College, I am extremely proud of all these individuals, and grateful to the Engineering and Science Foundation for recognizing them this year,” said Hegab.

The foundation also chose to honor two individuals outside of the College, who have worked tirelessly to promote their work.  G.B. Cazes, director of the Cyber Innovation Center in Bossier City, and Bill Bradley, chief information officer for CenturyLink in Monroe, were also recognized for their contributions.

The Engineering and Science Foundation was established with the primary purpose of supporting the students and faculty of the College of Engineering and Science.  Members are elected annually and the board meets three times per year.
