Prescott Memorial Library welcomes all new and returning students!

As the fall quarter gets under way, here are the top ten things you need to know about the library:

1. Your Tech Express Card is your library card!

  • Have your card on you at all times. It’s necessary for you to check out materials and equipment.

2. The Library website is the place to start your research <http://www.latech.edu/library/>.

  • It has links to everything you need: catalogs, archival collections, databases, and other e-resources.

3. Prescott Memorial Library also has …

  • Computer lab
  • Course reserves for your classes
  • Quiet study floor (5th)
  • Study rooms that seat up to 6 people
  • Periodicals & Microforms

4. Instruction, tour, and reference services are available!

  • Visit a librarian at the Information desk for help with library services, information resources, and research strategies. Consult your College Liaison Librarian.

5. You can borrow a laptop for a quarter at the Circulation desk. Webcams are also available.

6. Special Collections, Manuscripts and Archives on the fourth floor contain thousands of rare books and documents, particularly about the history of the University, Ruston, Lincoln Parish and North Louisiana.

7. Prescott Memorial Library is a regional depository of over 2.6 million publications from the Federal Government including maps, agency reports, presidential papers, congressional hearings and statutes. The Library also has an extensive collection of Louisiana state documents.

8. If the Library does not own a particular book or journal article, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Ask us how at the Circulation desk or see <https://www.latech.edu/library/interlibrary-loan>.

9. From off-campus, use your Louisiana Tech (Moodle) user name and password for restricted access to databases.
