  1. Call to Order – The January 25, 2021 meeting of the University Senate was called to order at 4:00 p.m. in Wyly Auditorium/Zoom Session by President Michael Swanbom
  2. Welcome – President, Michael Swanbom, COES
  3. Roll Call – Alicia Kimbell recorded the attendees as they logged into Zoom as well as those that attended in person; a quorum was met
  4. Approval of December 2020 Minutes – a motion to approve the minutes was made by Jerry Berg and seconded by Joseph Williams; all approved
  5. President Guice: Remarks and Q & A
    1. Thanked the members for their service within the University Senate
    2. Addressed the content of letter that the Senate sent in November
    3. Presented slides with data from 2007 to the present which included information on such topics as:
      1. Higher Ed Funding Trend
      2. Operating Fund Revenue (FY 2012-20)
      3. Expenditures (FY 2012-20)
      4. Average Faculty Salaries (all ranks)
      5. State Support by Institution
      6. State Appropriations per FTE
      7. Enrollment Information
      8. Other Student Success Metrics
      9. Faculty Salary Increase Needed to Reach the SREB Peer Average
    4. Senate members asked Dr. Guice additional questions as time permitted
    5. Slides from presentation will be distributed by Mikey Swanbom to all senate members by e-mail at a later date
    6. A poll will be created for senate members to submit their responses to Mikey Swanbom regarding the content of the presentation

A motion was made by John Worsencroft to adjourn at 5:03 p.m. All approved.
