The College of Business at Louisiana Tech University will soon have a new state-of-the-art building to call home.
Designed by Yeager, Watson and Associates of Alexandria, the 42,000 square foot facility is to be constructed on the east edge of the campus and will serve as the centerpiece of the College’s business and entrepreneurship programs.
Students and faculty will have access to new classrooms, offices, computer labs, two auditoriums, meeting rooms, research centers and student support and career centers.
“The new College of Business building is yet another example of our institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success,” said Louisiana Tech President Dan Reneau.  “This facility is part of a larger plan to move our university forward and will serve as a beacon for the best and brightest students in our area.”
“We are providing educational opportunities unrivaled anywhere in north Louisiana.”
The new College of Business building and other campus construction projects are a function of Tech 2020, Louisiana Tech’s long-range strategic plan and foundation for the future.  According to its website, Tech 2020 is “a roadmap for Louisiana Tech University’s transition from a very good institution to a great one.”
Dr. James Lumpkin, dean of Louisiana Tech’s College of Business, says the new building will help his college to meet the challenges of business education in the 21st century.
“The new building will provide students and faculty with cutting-edge technologies and team meeting space for both undergraduate and graduate students to facilitate collaboration and communication.”
Funding for the new facility comes from a $12.4 million capital outlay from the state as well as private contributions from some of the College’s most generous and active alums.  These financial gifts and resources will afford the College opportunities for long-term growth and program development.
“The new College of Business building will be a great addition for the university,” said Glen Post, Tech alumnus and CEO and President of CenturyLink.  “It’s a sign that the future of Louisiana Tech’s College of Business is as bright as its distinguished past.”
At a time when other institutions are being forced to contract their academic offerings, Louisiana Tech’s College of Business is seeking opportunities for expansion, offering programs not available anywhere else in north Louisiana while focusing on student recruitment, retention, advising, and support.
“The College of Business at Louisiana Tech has always prepared students to meet the challenges in the work place,” said Drake Mills, Tech alumnus and CEO and President of Community Trust Financial Corp.  “The construction of this new building continues to show the commitment this University has to being one of the most competitive business schools in the nation.”
The new building and its state-of-the-art technologies will allow students to acclimate themselves to practices and techniques that they will encounter within their industries upon graduation.
“When I entered Tech as a freshman in the fall of 1970, the College of Business’ building was one of the newest on campus and one in which all students took pride,” said Malcolm Murchison, chair of the College of Business’ Advisory board and co-founder of Bradley, Murchison, Kelley & Shea LLC of Shreveport.  “I am sure that today’s student body will have that same pride in this new building.”
Murchison also says the establishment by programs such as the Executive MBA in Shreveport and Monroe, Sustainable Supply Chain Management, and Information Assurance – all of which are unique to north Louisiana – shows that the College of Business at Tech continues to lead the way in the region.
“[Louisiana Tech] President Dan Reneau, [College of Business] Dean James Lumpkin, and the faculty and staff in the College of Business are to be commended for such leadership and progress.”
All degree programs offered by the College of Business at Louisiana Tech are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).  Accreditation by AACSB International represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools, worldwide.
