Office for Women in Science and Engineering

OWISE LogoThe Office for Women in Science and Engineering(OWISE) has as its goal to create a culture of success for women in engineering and science.  Housed in the Office of the Dean, the OWISE Office and programs aim to improve climate, increase retention and provide professional development and leadership opportunities for engineering and science faculty and students.

The OWISE Office also administers the National Science Foundation ADVANCE PAID grant for the College of Engineering and Science and its ADVANCEing Faculty Program.

The AWIS (Association of Women in Science) recently created a webinar series for their 40 th anniversary.  Dr. Jenna Carpenter, the OWISE faculty sponsor, is featured in two of the six webinar videos (embedded below). 

OWISE Library

The OWISE Library is located in Bogard Hall 201. We have a number of books related to women in STEM. Contact Sylvia Shultz at sshultz@latech.edu or (318)257-4647 to check out a book. It is free!

 

COES Grad Student Seminars

Join us twice monthly for COES grad student seminars that cover a wide variety of topics: writing papers and giving presentations, teaching tips, resumes and job interviews, professional communication, leadership, networking, negotiation, gender issues, and more! ALL GRADUATE STUDENTS ARE WELCOME - M.S., Ph.D., new, returning, male, female, engineering, math, science, computer science. 

Meetings will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. in the Biomedical Engineering Building, Room 107.  Be sure to bring your lunch - we will provide dessert!
