Organization donates grants to 10 Tech groups

Lagniappe Ladies, a philanthropic organization seeking to support the mission and vision of Louisiana Tech, has awarded grants totaling more than $35,000 to 10 campus groups.
Lagniappe Ladies awards grants to campus organizations, teams, projects and initiatives it deems would make the most significant positive impact upon the University and the community.
The groups chosen to receive grants include:

  • Department of kinesiology’s adult fitness program, to purchase equipment to enhance the adult fitness program;
  • SciTEC’s IDEA Place Math and Science Discovery Center, to purchase equipment to conduct science demonstrations and interactive experiments;
  • Department of music, to purchase and install instrument lockers in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts;
  • Professional aviation department, to purchase new computers and equipment for the computer lab;
  • Speech and Hearing Center, to purchase updated diagnostic materials to continue to serve the Ruston community and surrounding area with low-cost speech and language services;
  • School of Architecture’s Community Design Activism Center, to build and enhance the South of California Avenue community garden and provide ongoing funding to help improve the conditions of the community;
  • School of Art, to purchase and install a digital video security system at the Visual Arts Center;
  • Prescott Memorial Library, to purchase books in liberal arts or humanities;
  • Early Childhood Education Center, to acquire developmentally appropriate furniture and learning materials to enhance the classroom and correct some of the issues cited by outside evaluation entities such as National Association for the Education of Young Children and Quality Start;
  • Amateur Radio Club, to purchase a new weather station.
