Louisiana Tech set to host inaugural North Louisiana Health Analytics Conference
Healthcare professionals, educators and executives from around the region will join state officials and economic development leaders for the inaugural North Louisiana Health Analytics Conference, March 10 at the Willis-Knighton Innovation Center in Bossier City.
The conference, hosted by Louisiana Tech University, brings together industry and education leaders to advocate for a healthier Louisiana and to identify potential areas for research and training collaborations. It also seeks to inform the public about Louisiana-based research and technology in health analytics, and to publicize research at Louisiana Tech that aligns with conference themes/audience.
The North Louisiana Health Analytics Conference is free and open to the public, however pre-registration is required and closes March 7. Attendees can register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/north-louisiana-health-analytics-conference-tickets-32098652935.
“The conference is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about the important use of data analytics to improve population health in our community and in our state,” said Dr. Angela Kennedy, chair of the conference committee and director of the Louisiana Tech Center for Health Data Analytics.
The Center for Health Data Analytics at Louisiana Tech participates with statewide patient data networks, regional healthcare providers and national organizations and corporations to develop new technologies, new efficiencies and new guidelines for better health data analytics.
Dr. Rebekah Gee, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health, will serve as the conference’s keynote speaker and will give a “The State of the State” presentation. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy is also scheduled to attend and address the guests. Other featured speakers and guests include Louisiana Tech University President Dr. Les Guice; Dr. Tom Carton, chief of business development and principal investigator for REACHnet; and Chindo Hicks, professor of genetics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.
Panel discussions with chief information officers, industry experts, researchers and practitioners will highlight the conference and offer an opportunity for attendees to hear from leading experts in the field.
“This conference brings together the primary users and managers of health information, together with leaders from industry and academia, to showcase the power of data analytics,” said Dr. Stan Napper, vice president for research and development at Louisiana Tech. “Louisiana Tech faculty and our colleagues in healthcare, industry and government have the responsibility to improve healthcare delivery in north Louisiana through better use of health information.
“The conference program is a great opportunity for the public to understand more about health analytics and health information technology, and we hope many of our friends and fellow-citizens in the region will come to the free event.”
The North Louisiana Health Analytics Conference will take place at the Willis-Knighton Innovation Center at 2105 Airline Drive in Bossier City. The conference is sponsored by Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana Health Informatics Systems Society, Willis-Knighton Health System and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society-Louisiana Chapter.
