Cotton named Director of Development for University Advancement

Matt Cotton, a 2008 business administration graduate of Louisiana Tech and a recruiter and admissions specialist for the University since 2012, has joined Tech’s University Advancement team as its Director of Development.

Matt CottonCotton’s appointment comes less than three weeks after the University launched the most ambitious capital campaign in the school’s 125-year history — Forever Loyal. Its purpose is to raise $125 million to increase collaboration, innovation, and service across the campus.

“As we begin the public phase of the Forever Loyal Campaign, Matt will be an outstanding addition to the advancement team at this important time for the University,” said Vice President of University Advancement Brooks Hull. “His proven ability to make key connections and build relationships will be instrumental in his role with University Advancement.”

After working in private sales for more than four years, Cotton returned to Tech in 2012 as a senior admissions recruiter and campus visit coordinator. He then moved to senior admissions specialist for the College of Engineering and Science and has been the primary contact between the University and many of its current students.

In his new role, Cotton will assist University alumni and friends in their efforts to find and support programs and projects that fit their interests. He will continue to work with development staff, University administrators, faculty, and key volunteers to create and strengthen relationships with donors.

Through Forever Loyal, Tech will be able to invest in scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships that will help the best students in the region, state, and nation pursue degrees in Ruston. The success of the campaign will allow the University to recruit, support, and retain the best faculty in the world and ignite innovation through research and teaching grants and shape the next stage of development for a true 21st Century Campus that Forever Loyal celebrates.
