Lagniappe Ladies award 14 campus grants

The Lagniappe Ladies, the women’s philanthropic network of the Louisiana Tech Foundation, will make the holiday season a little brighter for 14 units across the University by awarding them grants to help with strategic projects. More than $50,000 will be distributed to academic and administrative units at Tech in the coming year. The Lagniappe Ladies’ grant process began earlier in 2019, when students, faculty, and staff submitted a total of 39 proposals to the organization.

NIH funds further development of Tech professor’s invention for brain research

Dr. Prabhu Arumugam, associate professor of Mechanical Engineering/Institute for Micromanufacturing at Louisiana Tech, has secured a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with Advanced Diamond Technologies, a small business located in Romeoville, Illinois. The award will fund further development of a brain chemical probe he has been developing in his lab for the past two years.

Tech, UPHS partner to launch CompTIA program

Union Parish High School recently began piloting an innovative class in partnership with Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC), and the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce.  The Computing Technology Industry Association, known as CompTIA, is the global leading provider of vendor-neutral information technology certifications. This non-profit organization has provided training and certifications since the 1990s and has continually progressed to remain at the forefront of evolving technology.

Clemson professor to deliver December New Frontiers seminar

Dr. F. Alex Feltus, Professor of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson will give the next lecture in Louisiana Tech University’s New Frontiers in Biomedical Research Series. His presentation, titled “21st Century (Q1-Q2) Bio-Computing: Systems, Algorithms, Data, Science” will be held at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in University Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
