Human Ecology

Welcome to the School of Human Ecology!

In the School of Human Ecology we focus on helping people live well, both personally and professionally.

Students gain real-world experience through hands-on projects, collaborative research, and service opportunities that prepare them for meaningful careers. We emphasize diversity, sustainability, and wellness, giving students the tools to succeed in today’s ever-changing world. At Louisiana Tech, we call it “The Art and Science of Living Well.” It’s a philosophy that guides not only your career preparation but also your everyday life.

ECEC

Early Childhood Education Center

The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) at Louisiana Tech University is a preschool learning laboratory designed for three- and four-year-old children. As an integral part of the instructional programming within the School of Human Ecology, the ECEC serves both as a high-quality early learning environment and a training site for university students pursuing careers in human development and family science.

ENRICH Center

ENRICH Center

The ENRICH Center focuses on improving health for children through research, education, and outreach. This Center enriches children’s environmental health through a focus on quality childcare, community health, and healthy homes. Students and faculty also work to improve children’s psychosocial health by working on peer and family relations as well as parenting skills. The Center also works to improve the physical health of children with a focus on health records and literacy, safety and wellness practices, prenatal care, and nutritional education.

Young Minds Lab

The Young Minds Lab

The Young Minds Lab investigates cognitive and socioemotional development during early childhood, focusing specifically between the ages of 3 and 6. Currently, the lab is exploring the emergence of moral disgust. The research aims to understand when and how children begin to perceive moral transgressions not just as bad, but as disgusting, and what factors may influence this shift in moral judgment.
