Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is that profession which stems from the application of the fundamental laws of electrical phenomena to the service of mankind. Broadly, electrical engineers are involved in one or more of the following areas: electromagnetics; the design and development of electronic and solid state devices; the control, conversion, and distribution of energy; computing and data processing; and communications including transmission and retrieval.

Electrical Engineering education at Louisiana Tech University began in the early part of the twentieth century. In 1927 the Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical-Electrical Engineering was developed, and by 1938 the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering was established. Since then, in addition to the undergraduate program, a strong graduate program has also been established.

Over the years, the Electrical Engineering Program at Louisiana Tech University has distinguished itself for providing a top quality education founded on a tradition of excellence. The program is nationally accredited through the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC-ABET), and it is designed to prepare the graduates for rewarding careers and professional opportunities.
