  1. Call to Order – The September 26, 2016 meeting of the University Senate was called to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Ropp Center, Room 105, by President Julie Rutledge.
  2. Roll Call – Kim Barlow – A quorum was met.
  3. Approval of Minutes – May 2016 – Approved on a Toaddy/? motion.
  4. Welcome – President, Julie Rutledge, ANS
    1. Renovation of Wyly Tower suspended due to state appropriations.
    2. Discussion of future bid for ERP.
    3. Reviewed accomplishments in 2015-2016.
      1. Staff Awards
      2. Increase for Professorships
    4. Dr. Guice invited to speak in May.
    5. University Hall will be used as a meeting room.
      1. Executive Committee meeting beginning December 5th
      2. Senate Body meeting beginning December 19th
    6. $7 million in parking improvements planned.
    7. 1,000 new donors.
    8. Announcements:
      1. Fabulous Equinox Orchestra Concert – tonight
      2. State Senate Debate – October 18, 2016
      3. 620 new beds are being added to housing
      4. APC:
        1. Updates on AROS climate survey at next meeting.
        2. Dr. Napper discussed new research initiatives and may come speak to the Senate regarding recruitment and retention of students and faculty.
  5. Introduction of Officers
    1. Vice President – Ernest Rufleth, Liberal Arts
      1. More time on Committees.
      2. ALFS
      3. Candid review from the Governor regarding budget – not cuts expected for this year or the next.
      4. Matthew Butkis is trying to get university surveys statewide to assess risk of losing faculty.
    2. Treasurer – Gregory Schelonka, Liberal Arts – Report on final budget.
    3. Parliamentarian – Teresa Murray, COES – Roberts Rules of Engagement
    4. Secretary – Kimberly Barlow, Alumni Engagement
    5. Ex-Officio President – Patrick O’Neal, COES
