University recognizes outstanding graduates
Each year, Louisiana Tech University honors Distinguished Alumni for their achievement in professional life, community life, and loyalty to the university. This year’s distinguished alumni were honored at a luncheon on Nov. 8 at the Davison Athletic Complex.

COLA Dean publishes chapter in new book
Dr. Donald P. Kaczvinsky, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and the George E. Pankey Eminent Scholar in English, recently published a chapter titled “Re-Joycing Tomorrow: Graham Swift, Artificial Insemination, and the Question of Literary Paternity” in Reading Graham Swift (Lexington Books).

Kinesiology professor aims to ensure every turkey tangos
In early 2019, Kinesiology Associate Professor Dr. Jean Chen and two physical education (PE) specialists from Lincoln Parish, published two articles based on their work creating resources for PE teachers that connect class activities to holidays. Chen, Tammy Schilling, and Jeanie Rowland wanted to broaden the experience students have in PE. Their collaboration has brought exciting and creative ideas to engage students in the classroom, while ensuring all students succeed at being physically active in and out of school settings.

Louisiana Tech University has announced the names of students on its Fall 2019 quarter president’s and dean’s honor lists.

Lagniappe Ladies award 14 campus grants
The Lagniappe Ladies, the women’s philanthropic network of the Louisiana Tech Foundation, will make the holiday season a little brighter for 14 units across the University by awarding them grants to help with strategic projects. More than $50,000 will be distributed to academic and administrative units at Tech in the coming year. The Lagniappe Ladies’ grant process began earlier in 2019, when students, faculty, and staff submitted a total of 39 proposals to the organization.

Pierre gives Tech’s fall graduates five principles for their future lives
Dr. Markey W. Pierre, President and Managing Partner of Southern Strategy Group of North Louisiana, celebrated the triumph of education in her commencement address Saturday at Louisiana Tech University. Almost 300 graduates marked the completion of their degrees at the ceremony.
Tech professor serves as industry expert on equine disaster medicine
Dr. Rebecca McConnico, professor and veterinarian in the School of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry, joined a group of 23 experts to help develop and improve protocol for equine disaster medicine for the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).
