Biographical Information

Dr. Sepehrimanesh is an Assistant Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology in the School of Biological Sciences, within the College of Applied and Natural Sciences. He teaches various courses and leads a research lab focused on stem cells, neurodegeneration, bioelectromagnetics, and autophagy.

After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Sepehrimanesh served as an Assistant Professor at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and Guilan University of Medical Sciences from 2014 to 2019. He then accepted a postdoctoral fellowship in Immunology and Viral Dynamics at the largest national non-human primate research center in New Iberia, affiliated with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, to work on HIV vaccine research. Following 13 months in that role, he transitioned to neuroscience, completing over four and a half years of postdoctoral work at UL Lafayette and LSU Health Shreveport.

His lab’s primary goal is to uncover the pathomechanisms underlying amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived motor neurons (hiPSC-MNs). Additionally, his team investigates the potential carcinogenic and neurodegenerative effects of cell phone radiation through mammalian cell culture and animal models.”
