Dr. Sumeet Dua provides leadership to advance the research, grantsmanship, scholarship and collaborative efforts at Louisiana Tech University. He leads the strategic development and implementation of research policies university-wide, enhancing interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research, collaboration, and training. He plays a crucial role in managing research and contractual partnerships with governmental and corporate entities, leveraging Louisiana Tech’s research capabilities, academic offerings, and resources to support community, scientific, and workforce development. He oversees research administration operations, including research and development, industry engagement, pre- and post-award management, and cultivates contractual relationships with corporate, federal, and state agencies, and academic institutions. Additionally, Dr. Dua chairs the University Research Council and oversees research compliance committees, such as the Biosafety and Radionuclides Institutional Review Committee, Institutional Review Board – Human Use Committee, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and the Agricultural Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. An important part of his role is to leads and promote contractual efforts with the Louisiana Tech Applied Research Corporation (LTARC) and other entities to advance highly classified research for national security goals. He leads the university’s research operations in the National Cyber Research Park (NCRP), Bossier City, and the Louisiana Tech Research Institute (LTRI), fostering engagement with federal agencies, notably the US Department of Defense.

Before his current role, Dr. Dua was the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and the Director of the Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering Technology programs at Louisiana Tech. His distinguished academic and professional achievements include authoring 5 books, securing 2 patents, and publishing over 70 peer-reviewed articles, 34 research abstracts, and 11 book chapters. He has served as scientific reviewer for over 65 federal review panels. He has been a chair or member of the accreditation review team for more than 40 institutions globally. Dr. Dua has delivered over 80 plenary and invited talks and has advised over 30 graduate dissertations and theses. His research specialties are in data mining, computational decision support, structural bioinformatics, biological system modeling, multi-modality fusion, and biomedical imaging. His research has been funded by NSF, NIH, AFOSR, AFRL, USEd, NASA, and LA-BOR.
