Dancing with the stars: Engineering grad takes Tech experience to NASA
Until late in her senior year at Caddo Parish Magnet High in Shreveport, Elizabeth Mitchell Taylor was focused on becoming a professional dancer.
But late in the game, she decided to keep dance as a hobby only and, since she was good at math and science, pursue engineering instead. Which is why today she is dancing with the stars, working as an industrial engineer for NASA, developing the software for the space station being designed to orbit the moon.
Cutts honor Petroleum Engineering professor with donation to help rebuild soccer complex
Louisiana Tech graduate Tim Cutt, ’83-Petroleum Engineering, and his wife Carolyn recently donated $250,000 in honor of former Petroleum Engineering professor Dr. Robert Caruthers to assist in rebuilding the Lady Techster soccer complex, which was one of five Louisiana Tech Athletics facilities damaged or destroyed during the April 25 tornado.

Four Louisiana Tech students from the College of Engineering and Science got a taste of space this summer after being selected to participate in RockOn 2019, a NASA-supported workshop that gave the Tech team an opportunity to learn more about rocketry and to put into practice their engineering problem-solving skills.

At NASA One Drive, Allen Lee was ‘right in the middle of it’
Today he’s 86 and in semi-retirement in Ruston, but soon after graduating from Louisiana Tech with his degree in mechanical engineering in 1957, Allen Lee was under contract with NASA, living in an apartment on NASA One Drive just outside Johnson Space Center in Houston and doing his part to help America beat the Russians in the Race to the Moon.
