Louisiana Tech University Senate – January Minutes

Monday, January 22 at 4:00-5:00 pm, Wyly Auditorium

  1. Call to Order – The January 22, 2024 meeting of the University Senate was called to order at 4:01 p.m. in Wyly Auditorium by President, Louis Reis.
  2. Welcome – President, Louis Reis, COES
  3. Roll Call – Alicia Kimbell recorded attendance; a quorum was met
  4. Approval of December 2023 Minutes – a motion to approve the minutes was made by Matthew Hartmann and seconded by Elisa Castagnola; all approved
  5. Updates
    1. APC will meet next Thursday
      1. Louis Reis sent out an e-mail to the senate on Friday, 1/19, containing a link to the list of the various committees on campus in preparation for discussion at January meeting (https://catalog.latech.edu/content.php?catoid=19&navoid=864)
  6. Senate Review of Councils, Committees, and Commissions List
    1. Senate members reviewed each council/committee to determine if there should have senate representation or establish a way to receive feedback from meetings held; responses provided
      1. Administrative and Planning Council – University Senate President already attends meetings
      2. Administrative Review Board – Senate representation not needed
      3. Active Learning Committee – Would like senate representation on this committee
      4. Aesthetics Committee – Would like senate representation on this committee or allow the senate to choose a campus representative to serve
