Proctored Exams

Proctoring Services

Proctored exams for other universities are administered by appointment. There is a $20 fee for each exam. After scheduling an appointment (318.257.4882), students should direct their instructors to contact us at TestingLab@LATech.edu. Any and all test information should be sent to this address. Contact the Testing Center prior to your appointment to ensure that your exam materials have been received.

If you are registered with Disability Services and require an exam proctored for a Louisiana Tech class, refer to the Disability Services page: latech.edu/ods. If you are not registered with Disability Services, your exam for Louisiana Tech may be proctored in the Louisiana Tech Library.

Miller Analogies Test

The MAT is an analytic ability test that requires the solution of problems stated as analogies. It is often required for entry into particular graduate programs. The MAT measures your ability to recognize relationships between ideas, your fluency in the English language, and your general knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics, and fine arts. You are not permitted to use a dictionary or any other reference aid when taking the MAT.

The exam costs $80 and registration takes place in the testing center immediately before the test begins. Please call (318.257.4882) or email (TestingLab@LATech.edu) for additional information or to schedule an appointment.

Major Field Test

Major Field Tests are given by universities to assess the educational outcomes of their programs. The tests also provide students with an assessment of their own level of achievement within a field of study. All subjects are computer based and are two hours in length.

The MFT is usually administered during the senior year when students have completed the majority of courses within their major. At the instruction of the academic dean, advisor, or capstone professor, appointments should be made no later than one month before graduation.

Appointments are made by calling 318.257.4882. There is no fee required to take the MFT, but a Louisiana Tech ID is necessary. Additional information is provided upon scheduling.
