Maintenance Services

The Department of Residential Life provides maintenance services at no cost to our students. If students living on campus have any type of maintenance issue they are asked to fill out a work order request so that our staff can be notified of the situation.

Submitting a work order

Students can now submit work orders through their housing portal. Follow this link to the Louisiana Tech housing portal.  

How to Submit a Work Order on the Housing Portal!

Step 1: Login to the StarRez Portal.

Step 2: Naviagate to the Room Maintenance tab.

*If this is an emergency (an incident that has caused flooding or imminent danger to a person), please contact our office during business hours 318.257.4038 or University Police 318.257.4018 or the Hall Director on-call 318.257.548.5382 if occurring after hours or over the weekend.

Step 3: Job Type

If you are placing a work order for your room, select “My Jobs”. To place a work order for a public space, such as a lounge, kitchen, study, etc., select ‘public jobs’.

Then click ‘New Job’.

Step 4: Next, you will be directed to the Maintenance Job Detail page, where you’ll provide the details of your work order.

Select the appropriate category and item, write a brief description of the issue, enter your phone number, and upload any relevant files or photos related to the request. 

Step 5: Once you’ve entered all the required information, click “Save Job” to submit your request. 

Step 6: The main page will now display your submitted work order, as well as any previous ones you’ve entered.

Step 7: Click “Save & Continue”. This will take you to our Submission Confirmation page. 

Step 8: Be sure to check your Tech email for submission confirmation as well as any updates on the status of your work order.  

That’s it! You’ve successfully completed the work order submission process.

For additional help or questions about your work order, please contact Building Services at 318.257.4038. 

A student can also call Building Services at 318.257.4038 or Residential Life at 318.257.4917 to submit a request. These offices are open Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.  A student may email the work order request to HousingWorkOrders@LATech.edu.  In the email, please include your name, room/apartment number, a detailed description of the issue as well as a phone number where our staff can contact you either for more details or to schedule an appointment to begin work.

Please note that not all maintenance issues are handled through the Residential Life office. If students are having problems with plumbing, electricity, or heat/air these issues are handled through our Physical Plant on campus. However, please notify our office first so that we can coordinate the work with our campus offices.  Please allow time for the Physical Plant to process your work order.
