ACADEMICS
Grades and Disciplinary Actions
Academic Status
Graduate students have the responsibility to learn their academic status prior to the beginning of the next enrollment period. A student may be in academic good standing and eligible to enroll; academic probation and eligible to enroll; or academic suspension (dropped to post-baccalaureate), and therefore not eligible to enroll in graduate-level courses. Although students will usually receive official notification of academic status, such notice is not a prerequisite to students being placed in one of the above categories. Students can view their academic status on Workday Student.
Grades
Graduate students can view their transcripts, class schedules, and registration “holds” on their student accounts in Workday Student. Dates that final grades for the quarter and cumulative GPA is calculated and posted can be found here. The grading system used by Louisiana Tech for calculating a GPA can be found in the current University Catalog.
Probation/Suspension
Graduate students who have been admitted unconditionally to a graduate degree program must maintain a 3.0 GGPA each quarter. Students may be placed on probation if their quarterly/cumulative GGPA drops below 3.0. If the quarterly/cumulative GGPA is not raised within the next two quarters after initially being placed on probation, students will be suspended from the Graduate School and the degree program, and dropped to post-baccalaureate status. Students may file a written appeal for reinstatement by following the Graduate Status Appeals Process outlined in Chapter 15, The Graduate School, of the current University Catalog. Graduate students awarded assistantship funding become ineligible to receive the funding and will lose the assistantship immediately if they are dropped from the Graduate School. In some instances, students may be required to repay funds to the University.

Academic Misconduct
Academic misconduct at the University is determined by the faculty member, committee, or other supervisor(s) under whom such misconduct occurs. The misconduct may occur in an individual class, a comprehensive exam, a practicum, an internship, a thesis or dissertation, a research project, a multi-quarter sequence of courses, or any other academically related matter or setting. Sanctions may range from dismissal from the University or an academic degree program to a failing grade or other penalty as determined by the faculty member, Plan of Study committee, supervising authority, or judiciary. The student has the right to appeal the charge of academic misconduct in accordance with the procedures contained in the Academic Honor Code (Section Eight: Appeals) paragraphs of Chapter 4 of the current University Catalog.
