Patrons not in one of these categories can obtain a Courtesy Card for $25.00 per year.

Reciprocal Borrowing Library Card

The LOUIS Consortium provides participating libraries with a program which will enable students and faculty from one university to check out materials from another university’s library.

Current Tech students and faculty need to fill out a Reciprocal Borrowing Library Card Application and return it to the Circulation Desk located on the main floor of the library. A valid Tech I.D. must be presented at the time the form is submitted. Cards are processed during regular weekday hours from 8:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m., but we ask that you allow about a day before returning to the Circulation Desk to pick up your card.

Only Tech students and faculty with a good loan history are given the privilege of having a Reciprocal Borrowing Library card. Patrons receiving these cards will be given a chart of participating libraries, a Reciprocal Borrowing Library brochure, and must follow the borrowing policies of each individual library.

NOTE: Printed copies of these materials are available at the Circulation Desk located on the main floor of the library. Contact Bob Woody at woody@latech.edu, or call 318.257.3555 if you have any questions.

Course Reserves

Library Reserves Access

The Reserves Shelves are found at the Circulation Desk, on the main floor of the Library. A valid Tech I.D. is needed in order to check-out an item on Reserve.

The circulation period varies on these items. The late fee is $3.00 per hour, per item. Most reserve materials can only be used within the Library.

NOTE: You must have Acrobat Reader or other PDF Reader installed in order to view these files.

Faculty can access the Reserves Form by clicking on the blue link. Additionally, faculty members may contact Mr. Bob Woody at 318.257.3555 or email woody@latech.edu if they have specific questions regarding reserves. All faculty members are encouraged to consult a Campus Guide to Copyright Compliance if unfamiliar with copyright protections and the “fair use” exemptions from copyright restrictions.

Periodicals

Periodical materials should remain in the Library so that they are available to Library users at all times. However, the following exceptions are acceptable for short term checkout . . .

  • Bound periodicals may be checked out for three (3) days by faculty and graduate students through regular checkout procedures at the Circulation Desk.
  • Unbound periodicals may be checked out by faculty according to the following specifications:
    • A maximum of five (5) loose periodicals may be checked out for up to two (2) hours.
    • Initial checkout is performed at the 3rd floor Information Desk, Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.
    • Final checkout is required at Circulation Desk on the main floor before leaving Library.
  • Return all checked out periodicals (bound and unbound) to the Circulation Desk on the main floor.
  • Faculty may send a student assistant to check out material if documentation is on file and the student has a valid ID. The permission form is available online.
