Louisiana Tech University’s tuition and fees are comprised of various fees which make up the total mandatory attendance costs associated with enrolling at the University each quarter.

Board Assessed Fees

Tuition (RS 17.3351(A)(5)(e))
Tuition supports instructional costs across the campus, including teaching, services, and administrative support. Tuition is fixed annually by the Board. Tuition may be covered by TOPS. https://www.latech.edu/tuition-and-fees-breakdown-for-tops/

Building Use Fee
The Building Use Fee was approved by the legislature in 1954 for construction and/or renovation of academic or academic-related facilities. This fee is $12.50  per quarter.  The Building Use Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Building Use Fee- Act 426
The Building Use Fee – Act 426 was approved by the legislature in 2013.  Proceeds are used to construct, acquire, repair, maintain, operate, or improve the facilities and physical infrastructure of the campus.  This fee is $4 per credit hour and does not  exceed $32 per quarter.  The Building Use Fee-Act 426 is not covered by TOPS.

Academic Enhancement
The Academic Enhancement Fee was established by the system board to enhance the academic performance of the University.  This fee does not exceed $16.67 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The academic enhancement fee is not covered by TOPS.

Academic Excellence (RS 17:3351.9)
The Academic Excellence Fee was established by the legislature in 2003.  The fee is used to promote academic excellence at the institution by enhancing instructional programs. This fee is $10 per credit hour and does not exceed $80 per quarter.  The Academic Excellence Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Operational Fee (RS 17:3351(A)(5)(d))
The Operational Fee was approved by the legislature in 2004.  The fee is used solely for the enhancement of any instructional programs.  This fee does not exceed $46 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours. The Operational Fee is not covered by TOPS.

General Tuition Fee (RS 17.3351(A)(5)(e))
The General Tuition Fee was established by the legislature in 2008 to support instructional costs across the campus, including teaching, services, and administrative support. The General Tuition Fee is a subcategory of tuition cost, which is not covered by TOPS.

University Support Fee
The University Support Fee was approved by the Board in 2015 under the authority of Act 377 of the Louisiana Legislature 2015 Regular Session  to support institutional costs across campus, including teaching, services, and administrative support.  This fee does not exceed $864.04 for undergraduate students and $796.26 for graduate students and is pro-rated up to 12 hours. The University Support Fee is not covered by TOPS.

University Assessed Fees

Student Center Fee
The Student Center Fee is utilized for the student programming, operations, maintenance, and renovation of the student activities facilities, including the Student Center and Tolliver Hall. This fee does not exceed $263 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Center Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Newspaper Fee
The Student Newspaper Fee was established to provide funding for the student published newspaper, The Tech Talk.  This fee  does not exceed $6.40 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Newspaper Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Concert Fee
The Concert Fee was established to provide support for the Louisiana Tech Concert Association that provides concerts and events for students and visitors. This fee allows students to attend these events at no additional cost.  This fee does not exceed $5.00 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Concert Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Intramurals Fee
The Intramurals Fee was established to provide support for the operations of the University sports center, intramural sports, and other recreational activities.  This fee allows students to use the facilities, including gyms, fitness areas, indoor track, bowling alley, pools, and other amenities, for no additional cost.  This fee does not exceed $130 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Intramurals Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Services Fee
The Student Services Fee provides support for University operations including registration, records, graduation, and other student support services.  This fee does not exceed $56 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Services Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Government Fee
The Student Government Fee provides support for the Student Government Association.  This fee does not exceed $4.50 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Government Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Union Board Fee
The Student Union Board Fee provides support for the Louisiana Tech Union Board which offers students quality entertainment, including concerts and other special events.  This fee does not exceed $10 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Union Board Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Recreation Facility Fee
The Student Recreation Facility Fee supports the maintenance of Hide-A-Way park.  This fee does not exceed $0.50 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Recreation Facility Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Radio Station Fee
The Student Radio Station fee supports the operations of the University-owned and student- run campus radio station, KLPI.  This fee does not exceed $2.50 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Student Radio Station Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Technology Fee (RS 17:3351.1)
The Student Technology Fee was approved by the legislature in 1997. The primary purpose of this fee is for the maintenance and acquisition of computer and telecommunications equipment and software to expand technologies for the benefit of students.  This fee is $5 per credit hour and does not exceed $60 per quarter. The Student Technology Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Energy Surcharge Fee
The Energy Surcharge Fee provides funding to offset energy costs of the University.  It was approved by the System Board in 2012 and is adjusted annually according to a formula based on actual costs.  The Energy Surcharge Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Student Self-Assessed Fees

Sports Club Fee
The Sports Club Fee supports club sports that are recognized campus organizations and promote a particular sport or activity through the intercollegiate competition.   This fee does not exceed $2.75 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Sports Club Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Health Fee
The Health Fee supports the physical health and emotional/psychological needs of the University’s students and supports the operations of counseling, disability services, and other health-related services.  The fee does not exceed $50 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Health Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Parking/Campus Enhancement Fee
The Parking/Campus Enhancement Fee provides funding for parking, facilities, and campus enhancements including the alumni walkway. This fee does not exceed $50 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Parking/Campus Enhancement fee is not covered by TOPS.

Parking Development Fee
The Parking Development Fee provides funding for the construction of parking facilities and spaces.  This fee does not exceed $20 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours.  The Parking Development Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Spirit Group Fee
The Spirit Group Fee provides funding for travel and other operational costs for the University’s spirit groups including the cheerleaders and the Regal Blues.  This fee does not exceed $1.75 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours. The Spirit Group Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Organization Development Fee
The Organization Development Fee provides a resource pool to be used by student organizations.   The Student Organization Committee oversees the resource pools with funds being dispersed to organizations that submit grant requests. This fee does not exceed $5 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours. The Organization Development Fee is not covered by TOPS.

Athletic Fee
The Athletic Fee provides support for facility enhancements and operating costs for intramural sports and intercollegiate sports.   This fee does not exceed $10 per quarter and is pro-rated for students enrolled in less than 8 hours. The Athletic Fee is not covered by TOPS.
