Access to Databases

Due to the nature of our contractual agreements with database providers, only current Louisiana Tech University students, faculty (include emeriti faculty), and staff can access online resources off campus. Retired faculty without emeritus status do not have off-campus access to electronic databases. However, most databases are available to visitors on site.

Access to Government Documents

Prescott Memorial Library is a depository for both federal and Louisiana state government publications. These materials are freely available for use by any individual. Photocopiers are available for print materials and machines are available for viewing and copying microfiche documents. There is no fee for using paper or microfiche documents, but there is a fee for copying from either format. Online government publications can be accessed from computers in the Research Services area.

Access to Special Collections, Manuscripts, and University Archives

Prescott Memorial Library welcomes visitors to use the Special Collections materials. Special Collections must be used in the reading room area on fourth floor since these materials do not circulate. Visitors who wish to use materials require a validated Louisiana Tech University ID, driver’s license, or other picture ID.

Guest Computers

A few desktop computers in the Prescott Memorial Library are reserved for guests, including alumni and community members. These computers are primarily for research purposes. Library guests can use these computers to access some of the libraries’ electronic resources.

Copying, Printing, and Scanning

The library’s scanners are free to use. Printing is only available to active Louisiana Tech University community members. One photocopier is located on the main floor. Copies cost 10¢ a page.

Visitor Parking
