2020-2021 Tryout Dates: May 8-10, 2020

Regal Blues

The Louisiana Tech Regal Blues are experienced technically trained dancers who focus primarily on technique, performance and maintaining their physical fitness.  A full year commitment is mandatory.  Tryouts are in the spring and practices are held throughout the summer, and 3-5 times a week during the school year to learn and perfect choreography.  Participation is required in team workouts 2-3 times per week.  Over the summer, the entire Regal Blues team attends UDA College Dance Camp and the veteran members attend ProAction Dance Intensive.  During the school year, the Regal Blues represent the Bulldogs at numerous sporting events such as football, men’s and women’s basketball, and occasional soccer and volleyball games.  In addition, we participate in pep rallies, additional athletic department events, and campus and community service activities during the year.  The Regal Blues also compete at the UDA College Nationals in Orlando, FL in January.  There is not a weight or height restriction to be on this team, but physical fitness as a collegiate dancer is expected.

Committed, well-rounded individuals and dancers with good character that will represent Louisiana Tech University in a positive manner, as Regal Blues are highly visible within our university and our community. We seek out girls that are outgoing and can work well with coaches and other teammates.  Another important facet of our program is members who embody athleticism by way of skill level, fitness, health and work ethic. Potential members should have experience in jazz, hip hop, and pom.

Tryout Clinics- Saturday, March 28, 2020 and Saturday, April 18, 2020

These clinics are for those interested in auditioning for the team this upcoming season.  Only one clinic is required, but you may attend both if you would like.  At these clinics, you will go over all technique elements required at auditions, receive one-on-one feedback from the coach, learn the fight song which is part of tryouts, learn a hip hop combination similar to what will be taught at auditions, and have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding the Regal Blues. Both clinics will be held at Lambright Sports and Wellness Center in the aerobics room from 1-4 pm.

Technique Clinic- Sunday, March 1, 2020

This clinic is for any current senior in high school or current college student who is interested in trying out for the 2020-2021 season.  At this clinic, you will be split up into groups and rotate between turns, tricks, and leaps, and also do across the floor technique all together.  This clinic is geared to get you familiar with all technique required for tryouts as well as improve on any skills you already have.  This clinic will be held at Lambright Sports and Wellness Center in the Red Gym from 2pm-5pm.

2019-2020 Regal Blues team tryouts- Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd
