DEADLINES to apply for graduation:

Fall 2018:  Apply by Friday, September 21, 2018
Winter 2019:  Apply by Friday, December 14, 2018
Spring 2019:  Apply by Friday, March 29, 2019**

**Effective May, 2018, Spring Commencement ceremonies will be divided in order to better serve ever increasing Spring graduation numbers and class sizes.   For Spring 2019, the following will apply:

Saturday, May 25, 2019:
10:00 a.m., Thomas Assembly Center
     College of TBA (undergraduate and graduate)
     College of TBA (undergraduate and graduate)
     College of TBA (undergraduate and graduate)

5:00 p.m., Thomas Assembly Center
     College of TBA (undergraduate and graduate)
     College of TBA (undergraduate ad graduate)

THIS AFFECTS SPRING COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES ONLY. Fall, Winter, and Summer ceremonies will remain as a single combined event.

Application for Graduation – Barksdale (BAFB) Students

You must complete an Application for Graduation and turn it in to your department before Friday of the third week of the quarter you intend to graduate. This initiates the degree audit process and begins the records preparation and diploma ordering process to prepare for your graduation. Your academic record will be reviewed along with your degree plan (plan of study). If there is a problem, your academic department or dean’s office staff will contact you. Please see the University Catalog under which you are graduating to review academic and residency requirements for associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees. The catalog also contains the criteria for conferral of the baccalaureate degree with Latin honors.

If you miss the deadline, see your Academic Dean for their determination as to whether you can be added late to the degree-candidate list. Their deadline is no later than Friday of the fifth week of the quarter.

Order your Cap and Gown at the University Bookstore or by using one of the order forms found on the Ordering page located under the Graduation tab. The University Bookstore has a separate deadline you must meet in order to obtain your graduation attire in time for commencement.

 

Application for Graduation – in absentia

All degree candidates are expected to attend the ceremony. If circumstances make this impossible, you are required to file a request for conferral of your degree in absentia. In addition to submitting the Application for Graduation, you will need to complete the Absence from Commencement Request Form. Sign it and send it to the address on the form (also listed below). If you wish to have your diploma mailed to you, you will need to include a $10.00 mailing fee with the Absence from Commencement request form. (The $10.00 mailing fee covers items sent within the United States only.) Address your letter to:

The Graduate Certificate Completion Form

If you are completing a Graduate Certificate program, you must complete the Graduate Certificate Completion Form and turn it in to your department before Friday of the third week of the quarter you intend to finish. This initiates the certificate program audit process leading to production of the Graduate Certificate and award of the certification. If you miss the deadline, see your Academic Dean for their determination as to whether you can be added late to the certificate-candidate list. Their deadline is no later than Friday of the fifth week of the quarter.

 

Transfer Credit

If you will be taking a course at another school during your final quarter, we will need to have verification from that school of your final grade in the course before you will be allowed to participate in commencement ceremonies. You will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony ONLY if your dean’s office certifies you as eligible to graduate. Further, we must receive the official transcript from the other school before you can obtain your diploma.
