African Students Association
Purpose
Create a network of African students, promoting a new atmosphere of social interaction to educate, enlighten and entertain its members while maintaining mutual understanding between African students and other groups at Louisiana Tech and its surrounding communities.
Membership requirements
Each regular member shall have ONE vote in all Association matters referred to him/her by the Executive Committee, provided they meet the eligibility requirements of 4 [18, 19]. Each regular member shall be eligible to hold one office at a time in the Association, provided s/he meets the qualifications listed in Article 5, “Constituent Assembly and Executive Committee”. A nominal registration fee/membership due is paid ANNUALLY to renew membership in the Association: Fifteen US Dollars ($15.00) for regular members; and Fifteen US Dollars ($15.00) for honorary members. The subscription fee is a reviewable article and will be considered at any Annual Joint Assembly/Home-coming. Each regular member shall have the right to demand accountability and due process from the leadership of the Association at any time or at a General Assembly. Such point of order shall be done verbally or in writing, and shall be up for debate and public scrutiny if the query garners more than one votes and/or signatures from active members(s). Where a matter cannot be settled within the student body or by the Faculty Advisor, any subscribed member is at liberty to lodge a complaint at the Office of the Student Organizations Committee who shall wade in to resolve the matter based on the ASA Constitution.
* All student organizations have a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 for general membership and 2.5 for Executive Officers.
