Society of Physics Students
Purpose
We, the undersigned, being desirous to secure for ourselves the pleasures and benefits of the association of persons commonly interested in physics and to stimulate interest in the advancement in the state of the art, by furthering cooperation among the members, by developing individual curiosity, and by promoting interest in physics in the general community, do hereby constitute ourselves the Louisiana Tech University Chapter of the Society of Physics Students, and do enact this constitution and the regulation of Louisiana Tech University as our governing law. Sigma Pi Sigma is the honor society within the National Society of Physics Students, and from here onward, both societies will be referred to as a single organization, “SPS”.
Membership requirements
Membership for the Society of Physics Students shall be composed of active and inactive alumni members. All officers and voting members shall be currently enrolled students at Louisiana Tech University. Membership in The Society of Physics Students is open without restriction as to race, creed, sex, or national origin. Active members shall be members in good standing. Active membership shall be for the period of time that a student pursues an undergraduate or graduate degree at Louisiana Tech University. Active members shall also attend two thirds of all meetings. Inactive members, or non-voting members, shall be those members who are not pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree during a quarter or who fail to attend at least two thirds of all meetings but do attend at least one third of all meetings. Qualifications for active membership shall be that all members are to be enrolled in Louisiana Tech University for at least part time.
* All student organizations have a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 for general membership and 2.5 for Executive Officers.
