Qualifying for Financial Aid

To receive aid from any federal student aid programs, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  2. Demonstrate financial need, except for some loan programs.
  3. Have a high school diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate or complete a state-approved home study program.
  4. Enroll in an eligible program as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate.
  5. Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  6. Have a valid Social Security Number.
  7. Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Louisiana Tech University.
  8. Certify that you will use federal student aid only for educational purposes.
  9. Certify that you are not in default on a federal student loan and that you do not owe money on a federal grant.
  10. Submit all required documents to the appropriate agency or Louisiana Tech University.
  11. Register (or have registered) with Selective Service if you're a male between 18 and 26.
  12. Meet the Drug Conviction Eligibility Requirements.
